Cernnunous The Lord of the Dance

Lord of the dance am I
Older than time am I
Spring, Summer, Winter or Fall,
I have part in them all
Lord of the dance am I
Older than time am I
Tribute to the Ancient Ones, the God Cernunos Lord of the Woods.
Cernunnos is the conventional name given in Celtic studies to depictions of the horned god of Celtic polytheism. In Wicca and other forms of Neo-paganism a Horned God is revered; this divinity syncretises a number of horned or antlered gods from various cultures, including Cernunnos. The Horned God reflects the seasons of the year in an annual cycle of life, death and rebirth.

To sooth the soul

I go to nature to be soothed and healed,
and to have my senses put in order.
~  John Burroughs

What better way to relax and recharge our connection with Mother Earth, than a quiet walk in the woods. Landsford Canal, Chester County, South Carolina.

First leaf of autumn falls
Summer ends
Autumn begins

September on the Catawba

"By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer."
-  Helen Hunt Jackson, September, 1830-1885

September 1st

" Sorrow and scarlet leaf,
Sad thoughts and sunny weather.
Ah me, this glory and this grief
Agree not well together!"
-  Thomas Parsons, 1880, A Song For September

Summer Grass

"I celebrate myself, and what I assume you shall assume,  For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.  I loafe and invite my soul, I lean and loafe at my ease ... observing a spear of summer grass."
-  Walt Whitman
